Acclaimed afro-jazz saxophonist and producer J. "Plunky" Branch is at the zenith of a prolific career – poised to advance his trajectory into 2020 and beyond.

In one the most productive years of his phenomenal career (2019), Plunky released his 25th album by Plunky & Oneness Afroclectic; headlined a tribute show to Grover Washington; performed with Pharaoh Sanders; and, celebrated the anniversary of the Richmond Jazz Society, which he founded 40 years ago.  Here is the official video for "Rise," the latest single from the Afroclectic album:

 
 
 
 

 

In a momentous 2019 Plunky also performed with his group Plunky & Oneness for tens of thousands in his native Virginia; and with his Nu Juju Trio at Okay Space in Brooklyn New York; and as guest soloist with the Makanda Project big band in Boston.  To top it off Plunky delivered a triumphant three concert engagement with his 16-piece Plunky & the Oneness of Juju at the 13th Annual Richmond Folk Festival which was attended by more than 225,000.  

 

Plunky also collaborated with French DJ Axel Brampton on the EDM track, "Have A Good Time Tonight" for an international release throughout France and Europe.
